As the first G600 continues to come together, Gulfstream is taking a full-scale cabin mockup on tour this summer around the U.S. The road show will provide customers a look at some of the design concepts incorporated in both the G600 and its sister G500, Gulfstream said, and provide the company with feedback on the cabin and cockpit.
“We want to ensure these aircraft provide the most functional, productive and comfortable cabin…and we do that by listening to the desires and requirements of customers,” said Scott Neal, senior v-p of worldwide sales and marketing for the Savannah, Ga.-based OEM.
Gulfstream took the wraps off the redesigned G600 cabin at the NBAA Convention last year in Las Vegas, saying the refinements had incorporated customer feedback. This summer’s tour will make nearly a dozen stops coast-to-coast, beginning this month and running through September.
The G600 and G500 cabins will be designed for satellite communication and high-speed internet connectivity, provide 100-percent fresh cabin air fully replenished every two minutes, have a 4,850-foot cabin altitude and be fitted with 14 of the company's signature large windows. Both aircraft will have the Gulfstream Symmetry Flight Deck.
Gulfstream is putting the G600 cabin on display as the aircraft progresses toward certification in 2018. The company joined the wing and mated the empennage to the fuselage this spring and production had begun on the first five test articles.
The aircraft, with a cabin just one foot eight inches shorter than that of the G650, will fly 6,200 nm at Mach 0.85, with a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.925. It is on schedule to enter service about a year behind the G500.
