Signature Flight Support’s new FBO at Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) is now fully open for business. The facility, which had a soft opening in October with refueling for tenant aircraft, is providing a full array of handling services. The 29-acre site provides 18.5 acres of ramp space and 240,000 sq ft of hangar space, including one 60,000-sq-ft building that can house a pair of Boeing 767s. For passengers and crew there is a 10,000-sq-ft executive terminal, featuring several lounge areas, quiet rooms and flight-planning facilities.
The FBO was built to incorporate environmentally friendly technologies, such as energy-efficient hangar lighting and reuse of waste materials. “Signature San Jose is stunning and state of the art in every way and is a reflection of Silicon Valley itself,” commented Signature Flight Support president and CEO Maria Sastre.
Costing approximately $82 million, the project was conducted in cooperation with anchor tenant Blue City Holdings, the private aviation arm of Google’s founders.
