OneJet continues to fill out its advisory team, retaining the services of former Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, as well as Peter Belobaba, a senior research scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's International Center for Air Transportation and director of the university’s Global Airline Program. The additions come as OneJet develops a scheduled charter network, using a Hawker 400XP operated by Pentastar Aviation, with the introduction of flights between Milwaukee, Pittsburgh and Memphis earlier this year and the upcoming addition of Nashville in September.
LaHood, who steered the nation’s transportation policy as the helm of the U.S. Department of Transportation from 2009 to 2013, will advise OneJet on government issues. He joins other high-profile government leaders on the advisory board, including former deputy Transportation Secretary John Porcari.
Belobaba will advise OneJet in areas involving network composition and management. He is the third MIT faculty member to join the advisory team, along with MIT chancellor Cynthia Barnhart and MIT global airline research engineer William Swelbar. He will support OneJet director of engineering Barry Smith, who formerly was the chief scientist at Sabre. OneJet’s advisory board also includes members from manufacturers and the Transportation Security Administration. The company expects to add more advisors in the future.
