Despite increased business jet deliveries and a record $22.9 billion overall backlog for executive jets, commercial airliners, and military aircraft, Embraer reported declining revenues in its corporate 2015 second quarter results released this morning. The Brazilian airframer delivered a total of 27 commercial and 33 executive aircraft (26 light jets and seven large jets) in the second quarter, compared with a total of 29 commercial and 29 executive aircraft (22 light jets and seven large jets) in 2Q14. Over the first six months of 2015, the company delivered 47 commercial and 45 executive aircraft (36 light jets and 9 large jets), compared with 43 commercial aircraft and 49 executive aircraft (39 light jets and 10 large jets) in the first six months of 2014. Revenues in 2Q15 totaled $1.513 billion, a decrease of 14.1 percent compared with 2Q14. Along with delivering two fewer commercial aircraft in the second quarter, the drop came as Embraer's defense revenues have declined. For the first six months of 2015, revenues in the defense division totaled $2.59 billion, a drop of 14.5 percent from $3.003 billion in the first half of 2014. Gross margin declined from 21.9 percent in 2Q14 to 18.9 percent in 2Q15. Gross margin in the first half of 2015 was 20.9 percent, comparable with the same period last year. The company said it expects reduced gross revenues of $5.8 billion to $6.3 billion for the year.
