Sikorsky is collaborating with Brazil's Instituto Tecnologico de Aeroautica (ITA) to develop more rotorcraft technologists in Brazil. The joint Collaboration for Rotorcraft Innovation aims to increase undergraduate exposure to rotorcraft principles as part of a “well-rounded aerospace education.”

The government-funded ITA is one of Brazil's top-ranked engineering schools. Under the agreement, Sikorsky (Booth 4537) will provide funding, curriculum and instructional staff related to rotorcraft studies. The manufacturer also will sponsor a Rotorcraft Innovation Lab at the ITA complete with a fixed -base flight simulator by the end of 2015 and contribute visiting mentors on campus.

“The demand for in-country rotary-wing assets continues to grow with the delivery of new, advanced helicopter systems to Brazil's armed forces. Sikorsky is pleased to be collaborating with this recognized leader in academia to provide them with a strong background in rotorcraft design,’ noted Antonio Pugas, Sikorsky regional executive for Latin America. The Brazilian military flies both the Sikorsky Black Hawk and Seahawk models.
