Cessna announced yesterday that it has received EASA certification for its M2 light jet, clearing the way for European deliveries for the CJ1 replacement to begin.

The seven-passenger jet, powered by a pair of Williams FJ44s, received FAA type certification in December. It has a range of 1,580 nm, a max cruise speed of 404 knots and can operate from runways as short as 3,210 feet.

“We’ve had significant interest from European customers for the Citation M2, due to its size, speed and range,” said Chris Hearne, vice president of jets for parent company Textron Aviation. “The aircraft can easily handle nonstop legs throughout the region, such as Paris to Athens or Zurich to Moscow.”

The M2’s Garmin G3000-based cockpit features touchscreen interactivity with high-resolution multi-function displays.

The certification comes just two weeks after the European safety agency approved the company’s super-midsize Sovereign+.
