VistaJet, a global aircraft charter operator that flies only Bombardier business jets, opened its new Malta operations center late last week. Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and other top-ranking Maltese officials joined VistaJet founder and chairman Thomas Flohr to mark the occasion.

“As we continue to add to our fleet, we expand our international footprint in parallel. In addition to being an excellent geostrategic location for our European operations center, Malta boasts a solid English-speaking workforce, as well as efficient infrastructure backed by a service-oriented government that is focused on expanding the aviation industry presence on the island,” Flohr said. “The presence of Prime Minister Muscat at [the] opening ceremony underlines the high level of commitment toward the success of the Malta aviation growth initiative.”

According to VistaJet account manager Nick van der Meer, the charter firm has recently completed the “transition of several operations teams to Malta, gathering key functions under one roof, essentially creating a nucleus for all activity.” More than 75 VistaJet employees now work in the Malta office, and the company already has five aircraft under Maltese registry, with a sixth–another Global 6000–to be added to this count by the end of this week.
