Pre-owned Hawker 700/800/900s are currently “significantly undervalued,” Brian Proctor of business jet broker and consultancy Mente Group said today at the NBAA Aircraft Finance, Registration and Legal conference in Bonita Springs, Fla. He contends that prices of these aircraft could potentially double (from current values, depending on the specific model) soon after <a href="http://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/aviation-international-news/2013-02-01/hawker-beechcraft-confident-it-will-exit-bankruptcy-month">Hawker Beechcraft exits bankruptcy</a> later this month.


Citing data from Aircraft Blue Book and V-ref, Proctor pointed out that a 1998 Hawker 800XP and 1981 Sabreliner 65 are both worth 20 percent of their original value. Historical data shows that this Sabre 65 was valued at about 60 percent of its original value when it was 15 years old, so current Hawker values should, in fact, be higher.


He said the Hawker’s current value is depressed because of poor communication from Hawker Beechcraft, as well as “jittery” buyers and financiers, especially in light of the financial woes over the past three years that ultimately led builder Hawker Beechcraft to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in May last year. Helping the aircraft’s outlook, Proctor said, there are more than 1,000 Hawker 700/800/900s in service and there is an “ample” supply of parts and service for these business jets.
