Hurricane Sandy’s Impact on NBAA Show Not Yet Tallied

While not a record, attendee registration was strong for the 2012 NBAA Convention in Orlando, Fla., which concluded today. At the end of yesterday, there were 24,748 visitors registered, down slightly from last year’s day two tally of 25,861, but up from the 23,831 registered in 2010.

The effects on actual attendance by Hurricane Sandy, which hit the Northeast on the eve of the show, have not yet been calculated, according to NBAA. The association acknowledged that it has heard from some registrants who wished to change the days they were planning to visit the show due to travel difficulties.

Based on conversations at the show, AIN has heard that some industry members have opted to skip the event altogether to tend to their businesses. NBAA listed 1,073 total exhibitors for this year’s show along with 105 aircraft in the static displays at the Orange County Convention Center and at Orlando Executive Airport.
