Global 6000 Turns Russian Heads At Jet Expo
The new Global 6000 flight deck was available for viewing by Jet Expo show goers.

Bombardier’s Global 6000 aircraft, featuring its Global Vision flight deck, attracted a lot of attention at this week’s Jet Expo show in Moscow. The Canadian airframer hopes the appearance of the new long-range model will boost its position in a Russian market, where it already claims the number one slot with a 35 percent share of deliveries in terms of business aircraft registered in Russia or operated by local operators. A company spokesman said that its market share in the segments it serves rises above 50 percent when aircraft bought by Russian nationals, but registered or based outside the country, are calculated.

According to Bombardier, the Global 6000 has already logged an unspecified number of orders in Russia, despite the fact that with an operating empty weight of greater than 20 metric tons (44,000 pounds) it is subject to the country’s 20 percent tax on imported aircraft. The company also displayed a Challenger 605, a Challenger 300 and a Learjet 60XR at Jet Expo.

Christophe Degoumois, Bombardier’s sales vice president for Russia, the CIS, China, Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, highlighted cabin comfort, range and reliability in harsh, cold weather operating conditions as factors explaining the popularity of its jets in the Russian market. He predicted that the new Global 7000 and 8000 models will also prove popular in this vast country. Bombardier believes that just over 1,500 new aircraft will be delivered in Russia and the CIS over the next 20 years.
