ST Aerospace broke ground on a $26 million expansion of its complex at Singapore’s Seletar Aerospace Park on Tuesday. The additions will include a purpose-built general aviation aircraft hangar, pilot-training simulator center, facilities for aviation technical training and a VIP area for air charter customers. The company expects all of the new buildings to be finished by year-end.
The 42,600-sq-ft GA hangar will double ST Aerospace’s current capacity to provide hangarage and maintenance for business jets, helicopters and light aircraft. In total, ST Aerospace will be able to handle up to 24 GA aircraft and 11 single-aisle bizliners at any one time at its Seletar Aerospace Park hangars.
The company’s six-bay training center will be built on a 5.7-acre plot of land opposite its current site, “which will be further developed to house a full suite of training and support facilities for its growing commercial pilot and technical training businesses.” Additionally, the new training center building will also house a VIP lounge for ST Aerospace’s air charter customers, facilities for aviation technical training and an administration building for its MRO management and support staff.
