The Massachusetts Port Authority gave the go-ahead to Bedford-based Rectrix Aviation to develop new FBOs at Hanscom Field and Worcester Regional Airport. Under the terms of the lease agreement, Rectrix will invest approximately $5 million to develop 27,000 sq ft of hangar and office space at Worcester Airport and $15 million to develop approximately 96,000 sq ft of hangar and office space at Hanscom Field.
At Worcester, the company’s FBO will be located on the north side of the airport in the area of an existing general aviation ramp off Taxiway Bravo and the approach end of Runway 15. Its facility at Hanscom will be built on the existing Hangar 24 site located off Taxiway Mike in the southwest quadrant of the airport near the approach end of Runway 5.
When the Rectrix FBOs open in about two years, current Worcester FBO Swissport Fueling and current Hanscom FBOs Signature and Jet Aviation are expected to remain. Rectrix currently has two FBOs: one at Barnstable Municipal Airport in Hyannis, Mass., and another at Sarasota (Fla.) International Airport.
In related news, Massport also approved Jet Aviation’s plans to replace one of its existing hangars at Hanscom with a new 40,000-sq-ft structure.
