Seeing a need for on-demand business transportation in two specific locations, data-storage entrepreneur and pilot Moshe Yanai is now in operation with his Boston Executive Helicopters in Norwood, Mass., and Tel Aviv Executive Helicopters in Israel. The company has an Aerospatiale AStar and TwinStar operating in Israel, as well as an AStar flying from Norwood Memorial Airport serving the U.S. Northeast. A TwinStar is scheduled to join the U.S. operation soon. Christopher Donovan, a former U.S. Army aviator, is chief pilot for the U.S. operation and Gen. Boaz Peleg (Israeli air force, retired) is in charge of the Israel service. Both the U.S. and the Israel operations were originally intended to get off the ground in July last year, but obtaining both FAA and Israeli CAA air-taxi certifications simultaneously turned out to be a much longer process than anticipated. Separately, Donovan said he plans a “full-service FBO” at Norwood with the purchase and construction of a new hangar on the north end of OWD. “We will offer hangar space for transient parking and tenant leases,” he told AIN.
