A hearing with the UK’s Central Arbitration Committee over the representation of pilots at NetJets Europe scheduled for last Friday was postponed after both sides agreed to hammer out an agreement on their own. NetJets Europe has refused to recognize the Skyshare union, despite the fractional company’s pilots filing for such representation and receiving a “certificate of independence” from the Certification Office for Trade Unions and Employer’s Associations in the UK. The European fractional provider asserts that Skyshare has no jurisdiction to represent its pilots because it claims the crews are based in countries outside the UK. “NetJets Europe can confirm we have held discussions with Skyshare representatives. As this is an internal matter, it would be inappropriate to comment further,” a company spokesman told AIN. Skyshare general secretary Stefan Zitat also declined to comment, noting, “We cannot afford to talk to the media and give management ammunition for their fight against Skyshare.” Neither side offered a timeline for the negotiations.
