Mark Huber is an aviation industry veteran who has worked in the flight training, aircraft sales, aircraft component, and airport development businesses. He has flight time in more than 50 different and diverse aircraft, including helicopters, aerobatic aircraft, vintage warbirds, jet fighters, business jets and turboprops, and transport-category aircraft. He has jumped out of several of these—on purpose—with a parachute. His defense and aviation journalism has been published in a variety of national and international periodicals.

Bell Helicopter announced at NBAA 2011 in Las Vegas that it has received FAA certification for its new $2.865-million, <a href="?q=aviation-news/hai-convention-news/2011-03-06/heli-expo-2011-bell-offers-glass-and-guns-new-407s">single-engine 407GX</a>, equipped with <a href="?q=aviation-news/aviation-international-news/2011-03-28/garmin-moves-full-helicopter-suites-g1000h">Garmin G1000H glass panel avionics</a>. Bell announced the helicopter at Heli-Expo in February and received Transport Canada certification earlier this year.
Bell has booked more than 60 orders for the 407GX and production is sold out through the end of 2012. The 407GX is the first production helicopter equipped with the G1000H. The system features two 10.4-inch-high LCD displays and an integrated avionics system that includes traffic information system, helicopter synthetic vision, moving map, helicopter terrain avoidance warning system and range-ring calculation. Bell will deliver the first customer 407GX by year’s end.
