French company <a href="http://www.ainonline.com/ain-and-ainalerts/aviation-international-news/single-publication-story/browse/0/article/aerovision-improves-aerial-camera-5706/?no_cache=1&amp;tx_ttnews%5Bstory_pointer%5D=6&amp;tx_ttnews%5Bmode%5D=1">Aerovision</a> and its sister firm, maintenance provider UniAir, (both Chalet B371) have collaborated to create a specially modified Dassault Falcon 50 designed for aerial photography. The aircraft is equipped with a gyro-stabilized pod camera mounted underneath the fuselage and linked to a workstation in the cabin, from which a photographer can control the action.
The system comprises a pod fairing and a pod, which contains digital video and frame cameras. The cameras can be angled up 20 degrees and down 120 degrees, and rotated 350 degrees in all directions.
UniAir is responsible for all modifications. The companies expect European Aviation Safety Agency certification of the camera system in the near future.
Aerovision claims it is the only European operator of the type and can now offer air-to-air or air-to-ground photography at high altitude and high speed. The images can be broadcast live or retransmitted.
The Falcon 50 can also be quickly reconfigured to become a VIP aircraft.
