Recent helicopter industry events have underscored the changing landscape of the MRO business, highlighting the fact that the helicopter market has been underserved, according to Adrienne Robinson, CEO of Associated Aviation in Vancouver, Canada. “The Helicopter Association of Canada [HAC] was an excellent show for us. The event was well attended with a good cross section of operators and vendors,” she told AIN. “We got very positive feedback at both [Heli-Expo] and HAC. Both shows resulted in orders being placed and on-going discussions about upcoming maintenance, repair and overhaul work,” she said. “Heli-Expo served as a barometer for the helicopter MRO landscape and its shortcomings in Canada and the U.S. Clearly, during this early period of economic recovery, North American helicopter operators should question their traditional service providers, particularly with respect to legacy aircraft repair and overhaul in today’s fiscally responsible operating climate.” Associated Aviation offers repair and overhaul of engines, components and airframes, inspections and modifications, completions, avionics, integrated logistics support and training.
