As general aviation slowly takes hold in China, light aircraft manufacturer Cirrus has partnered with city and airport authorities to establish a new FBO at Zhuhai Airport. The 30,000-sq-ft facility was completed in November, and the backers held an opening ceremony during Airshow China. The Zhuhai Cirrus FBO will offer traditional ground services for approximately 50 based and transient aircraft, and will also serve as a Cirrus Aircraft sales and service center. Other activities planned for the facility include a flying club and training services.

"While general aviation traffic is still fairly low in China, limiting the potential for traditional FBO services, the aviation community aspects–particularly the flying club and training services–will allow people in the Zhuhai area to become more and more familiar with general aviation and its many benefits," said Ian Bentley, Cirrus vice president and managing director for international sales. The company expects the new facility to become the center of its activity in the Guangdong area.
