The State of Maryland has filed a $4 million suit against the FAA alleging controller negligence related to the 2008 fatal crash a police medevac helicopter. “Trooper 2” was on approach to Andrews AFB when it crashed into a wooded area in Waldorf, Md., killing four of five aboard. The suit alleges that controllers provided the pilot with outdated weather information, denied his request for an ASR approach and failed to provide radar guidance and terrain warnings.
