Dassault Falcon has selected Alto Aviation to supply the audio system for every new-production aircraft, including the Falcon 7X. “We manufacture all our own components and do the system engineering for specific aircraft models. We provide amplifiers, subwoofers and speakers that normally go into the passenger service unit, ceiling or sidewall. We also have a surround-sound option,” Don Hamilton, the Leominster, Mass.-based company’s president, told AIN. Hamilton said Alto systems can interface with most cabin management systems, making it possible to use an iPod, CD, DVD or Blu-ray, depending upon the configuration the customer chooses. “The performance will rival the best home systems,” he said. Current Falcon owners can retrofit their aircraft with a customized Alto audio or surround-sound system using the company’s proprietary cabin acoustic modeling software. According to Hamilton, Alto has aftermarket systems for practically every aircraft from the King Air C90 through L-1011. It performs installations under FAA field approval. Price (before installation) ranges from $12,000 to $90,000 for a widebody, depending on the aircraft.
