Chad is the editor of AINalerts, AIN's daily business aviation newsletter, and is also the news editor at AIN Media Group.&nbsp;He has been writing about aviation, with an emphasis on business aviation, since 1994. Chad started his writing career at The Avion,&nbsp;the&nbsp;student newspaper at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, serving as editor-in-chief before graduating with a bachelor's in aeronautical science. After a stint as managing editor at Professional Pilot&nbsp;magazine, he joined&nbsp;AIN in late 1998. “There’s a fair amount of caution out there, but we’re seeing steady activity at our Gulfstream and Jet Aviation subsidiaries,” Jay Johnson, chairman and CEO of Gulfstream and Jet Aviation parent company General Dynamics, said last month at the Morgan Stanley Global Industrials Unplugged Conference. Backlog for current-production large-cabin Gulfstreams is “about where we want to be” at 18 months, he noted. There are also orders for almost 200 G650s, which won’t start being delivered until 2012. Johnson said the midsize business jet market is “beginning to stabilize,” though he added, “It’s not where it needs to be or where it will be, but we’re seeing order book activity for mid-cabin Gulfstreams at modest but encouraging levels.”
