A new market forecast by the Moscow-based Central AeroHydroDynamics Institute predicts that the number of Russian-registered business aircraft could exceed 600 by around 2023 to 2025. Today, many aircraft owned by Russian individuals and companies are registered offshore to avoid the bureaucratic and tax restrictions that would be imposed if they were registered in Russia.

The Institute’s research concludes that there will be between 245 and 260 light jets, 205 to 220 midsize aircraft and between 100 and 110 large jets. It predicts that these aircraft will include new private versions of Russian airliners such as the An-148 and Superjet 100. The report also concludes that inadequate airport infrastructure is impeding the growth of business aviation in Russia.
