Cosgrove To Distribute Oviv Sentinel in U.S.
The Sentinel 100L security system for aircraft, produced by French company Oviv Security Technologies (Booth No. 375), will be distributed in the U.S. market by Cosgrove Aircraft Service of Hauppauge, New York, with a specific focus on providing the system to business aircraft owners. Sentinel, which has been fully tested in extreme weather conditions, uses a pod with integrated motion detectors and cameras linked to a base station in the aircraft. A tri-band GSM smartphone with built-in Oviv application is used for SMS text alerts from the system.

Cosgrove Aircraft Service specializes in consumable products and rotable exchange sales for most corporate aircraft. CEO John Cosgrove said, “We think the Oviv product offers a quality solution for flight departments that are actively addressing today’s complex security concerns.”

ERP Guidance Manual Finds Launch Customer
Aircraft operator Pietro Zaccari of Italy’s ALBA Servizi Aerotransporti is the official launch customer for the new Emergency Response Planning Guidance Manual published by the European Business Aviation Association. The International Civil Aviation Organization’s November 2010 mandatory compliance deadline for a safety management system, which includes an emergency response plan, is drawing near.
Subjects included in the EBAA manual are: emergency response plan imperatives; setting up an emergency response center; care and welfare; financial assistance; media response/handling; emergency services liaison; insurance; and legal issues. Provided in the form of a digital publication on CD-ROM, it is also available by order on the EBAA Web site, www.ebaa.org.

Avinode Data Shows Charter Demand Surged in April
Demand for charter flights picked up during April with the demand index generated by online charter portal Avinode (Booth No. 843) standing at 117.86 on April 30, which is 40 points above on the index for the end of March when it was at 77.21. The April 30 index for this year was also almost 30 points up on the same day last year, when it stood at 88.57.

Charter rates have also shown some increases. In the North American market, Avinode’s data shows rises in flight hour rates of between 5.3 and 5.6 percent over the past month. The average rate for a Cessna Citation Excel on April 30 was ?2,437.10, while rates for the Hawker 800XP and Bombardier Challenger 604 were ?2,519.90 and ?3,738.60, respectively. In the rest of the world, there was rising demand for the Challenger 604 (with average prices up 4.7 percent at ?4,347.60), as well as for the Hawker 800XP (for which the average rate climbed 2.8 percent to ?3,250.60). But demand for the Citation Excel outside North America dipped very slightly to ?2,677.90.
