Stevens Aviation last month said it has gained an STC for installation of Honeywell’s runway awareness and advisory system (Raas) in the Learjet 60, adding another element to a major cockpit and cabin upgrade program for the model. The Raas software is part of the airplane’s enhanced ground proximity warning system. It is intended to minimize the risk of runway incursions by warning pilots of potential hazards on the ground, such as if they are about to take off from the wrong runway or land on a runway that is too short. The STC is part of Stevens Aviation’s Learjet 60 Business Liner upgrade program, the centerpiece of which is the Universal Avionics EFI-890R flat-panel cockpit. Stevens has also incorporated Universal’s Waas/LPV FMS, along with an upgraded interior with full-cabin LED lighting, Aircell high-speed airborne Internet and an HD cabin entertainment system. Price for the refurbished model is around $4.9 million, which the company notes is $10 million less than a new Learjet 60XR. The downtime required for conversion is about two months.
