German airline Air Berlin Group has signed an agreement under which Lufthansa Technik will provide comprehensive component support for its entire fleet. Lufthansa Technik will manage the supply of components for the airline’s Boeing 737s, Airbus A320s and A330s and Bombardier Q400s. Air Berlin will receive on-site service at its Berlin and Düsseldorf hubs. The airline will also have access to Lufthansa Technik’s central material warehouses in Hamburg and Frankfurt and the repair services provided by the two sites. The company offers express AOG service for some 2,000 electronic, hydraulic or pneumatic components. According to a spokesman for Lufthansa Technik, Air Berlin has already transferred a large portion of its parts inventory to Lufthansa Technik, with the most frequently required components being held in the customer’s own decentralized storage facilities. Lufthansa Technik has also developed a logistics concept tailored to Air Berlin Group’s specific needs.
