Cessna 550 Citation II, Sellersburg, Ind., June 5, 2009–A collision with
a large bird damaged the Citation II as it departed from Clark Regional Airport, the Safety Board determined. According to the pilot, the flight was about one mile from the airport at an altitude of approximately 1,000 feet when it was struck. The pilot elected to continue the 20-minute flight to the destination and landed without incident. Examination of the aircraft showed impact damage to the aircraft’s nosecone and the underlying airframe supports.
