At EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wis., this week, Avidyne introduced its new low-cost FMS400, which provides flight management system functionality but without WAAS precision approach capability. Like the WAAS-capable FMS900w, the FMS400 includes Avidyne’s GeoFill and FMSVectors functions; the FMS can later be upgraded to an FMS900w if desired. The FMS900w includes an FMS keyboard, which is optional on the FMS400. Avidyne also announced it is now offering three versions of its new integrated Entegra Release 9 systems: the Silver system ($39,500), which includes dual FMS400s, a single ADAHRS and dual displays; the Gold system ($59,000), which adds dual FMS900w systems; and the Platinum configuration ($72,800), which includes dual FMS900ws and dual ADAHRS. SVS is a $5,000 future option on the Silver system, but is standard in Gold and Platinum. All three systems come with dual IFD5000 displays, dual GPS/FMS receivers, dual 16-Watt VHF com radios and an MLB700 Sirius/XM datalink receiver. To round out its integrated avionics system, Avidyne is developing its own autopilot, the DFC100; the company flew a prototype of it in a Cirrus SR20 to Oshkosh from Denver.
