London-based Design Q has teamed with Case4de engineering specialists of Hamburg, Germany, to produce an interior proposal for the A380 ordered last year by Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal bin Abdul Al Saud.

Design Q director Gary Doy described the job as daunting in terms of the size of the project, which includes two decks and a total of more than 6,000 square feet of floor space. The airplane, he said, will be the “ultimate luxury” private jet, with an interior that takes into consideration cultural as well as geographic ideas. A grand entrance hall will contain a floating spiral staircase joining the baggage hold and the two main decks. A private elevator will take the principal and guests from the ground into the aircraft. In flight, it will allow transport between all floors.

The boardroom of the Flying Palace, said Doy, will include the latest in communication technology, allowing the owner to access the world without leaving his seat at the head of the table.
