Embraer’s Phenom 100 entry-level jet received EASA certification on Friday. The five-passenger twinjet was introduced by the Brazilian manufacturer in 2005 and received Brazilian Agencia Nacional de Aviacao Civil and FAA certification in December. As of last week, 12 Phenom 100s have been delivered. Meanwhile, Embraer is deeply involved in certification tests of the Phenom 300, which is expected to obtain FAA and Brazilian approval by year-end. To date, all aerodynamics tests are complete on the larger Phenom derivative, including natural ice-shape flight trials. Last week at the Sun ’n’ Fun Fly-In in Lakeland, Fla., the company said the light jet is now undergoing natural ice testing, as well as lightning and Hirf testing. Cold-soak tests at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida are scheduled to begin in the coming weeks, according to Embraer. In other news, the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer’s in-development Legacy 450 and 500 are now entering the detailed design phase, with certification pegged for the second half of 2013 and 2012, respectively. Additionally, Embraer expects to deliver the first Lineage 1000 bizliner this quarter.
