Aircraft flying in to this month’s Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, Ga., will have a new hangar/office complex at which to park. The new construction at Augusta Bush Field (AGS) increases total storage capacity at the FBO to 32,000 sq ft. Construction crews started work on the new 16,000-sq-ft hangar/office complex last spring and it opened for business early this year. William Thompson, aviation services supervisor for FBO Augusta Regional Airport Aviation Services (ARAAS), said, “We’ll finally be able to say yes to our customers’ requests for hangar space. People are eager to try out the new space. It’s like getting excited by that new-car smell.” The Masters event runs from April 7 to 13.

The new hangar can accommodate aircraft the size of a Challenger. The terminal area also includes seven new offices and a customer lobby with a kitchen. A new auto parking area is also part of the new look at AGS. The airport has two runways–8,001 and 6,001 feet long–and ILS approaches. Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Avfuel, the world’s largest independent general aviation fuel supplier, provides service to ARAAS. Separately, Avfuel recently announced that Mauser Aviation at California’s Sacramento Airport (Q94) also signed on as a customer.
