Europe’s JAA issued type certificate recommendations for the Gulfstream IV and Gulfstream IV-SP, essentially endorsing the business jets for approval by the JAA’s 25 member nations. The letter recommending issuance of type certificates came earlier this month. Meanwhile, Gulfstream continues its long-time effort at obtaining JAA certification of its GV. According to Gulfstream v-p and chief engineer Dick Johnson, the company is currently involved in the fourth of five structural tests required by the JAA. He expects to see completion of the last of the structural tests by the end of the year and, following additional testing and evaluation, the GV should receive JAA certification next summer.
