The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certified the Citation Mustang last month, approximately one month after the first customer airplane was delivered in the U.S. According to Cessna, the VLJ is the first new-generation entry-level business jet to achieve certification in Europe. An additional steep approach certification allows the Mustang to land at airports with instrument approach angles greater than 4.5 degrees, such as London City airport in the UK, which has an approach angle of 5.5 degrees and requires special authorization for aircraft and pilots who land there. At press time, Cessna had booked orders for 300 Mustangs, including 100 in Europe. Forty deliveries are scheduled for this year, and Cessna hopes to deliver aircraft 150 by 2009.
