An order for two Grob SPn jets to newly formed Abu Dhabi-based operator Prestige Jet, announced here yesterday, marks a breakthrough into the growing Middle East market by the Zurich-based manufacturer.
Yesterday’s statement also was the first time that Grob disclosed the identity of a customer for the more than 60 orders the SPn has secured to date. Prestige Jet, part of the Al Yasi Group, will add the aircraft to its start-up fleet comprising a Bombardier Challenger 604 and Hawker 800XP. One more of each type will be delivered before the arrival of the SPns in 2009.
Prestige Jet managing director Faris Deeb said the company would provide VIP services to meet growing Middle East demand, but one SPn will be used to fly a shuttle service between Al Yasi’s steel factory in Sohar, Oman, and Abu Dhabi.
