Tyrolean Jet Services of Innsbruck is here at EBACE for the sixth time, exhibiting its charter expertise to attendees (Booth No. 526). Austriaâs oldest executive aircraft operator and the largest in the western part of the country, Tyrolean was founded in 1976 as the flight department of the Swarovski Groupâmanufacturer of crystal, jewelry and optical systems. It currently operates a charter fleet of six aircraftâfive of which it owns and one it manages on behalf of a large Austrian corporation.
The fleet includes a Cessna Citation CJ2, a Citation VII, a Dornier 328Jet with a corporate shuttle interior accommodating up to 29 passengers, another Dornier 328 with a 14-seat executive interior and two Bombardier Global Express long-range jets. The Citations and the Dorniers (the latter offering a 1,670-nm range) fly mostly in Europe, while the Global Expresses travel between five continents. The company said it has no plans to acquire more aircraft in the near term, but business is good in Austria and it expects to expand in the future.
Tyrolean Jet Services employs a staff of about 50, including 22 full-time pilots.
It operates a European Aviation Safety Agency Part 145 maintenance shop for its own and managed aircraft at its Innsbruck base and a 24-hour dispatch center.
Tyrolean also has an office at Vienna Airport and is a member of the London-based Baltic Air Charter Association, often fulfilling requests from international executive charter brokers. âWith the Global Express, we can offer flights at a truly global scale,â said company spokesman Thomas Reiner.
For instance, Tyrolean has conducted flights to Australia (one-stop, with crew changes in Bangkok), Hong Kong and other Asian destinations, and frequently flies into Russia. It also has approval from U.S. authorities to operate commercial flights under Part 129 rules for foreign carriers and participates in the U.S. visa waiver program.
