NBAA president and CEO Ed Bolen said this morning at a regional forum in White Plains, N.Y., that the airlines are being given a “sweetheart deal” and the user-fee fight is far from over. His remarks come three days after the FAA published a Fact Sheet purporting to debunk myths charged by GA surrounding its funding proposals (see story below). In his remarks, Bolen stressed that the issue is “every business aviation operator’s responsibility” and they must “write their congressmen and women.” To make this process easy, NBAA has developed an online tool where operators can simply push a button to e-mail their respective representatives. According to Bolen, the association and its allies have made great progress in the House but “concerns remain” in the Senate, where he said committee leadership supports user fees. The next step, said Bolen, is the chairman markup, the version of the bill each member of the respective committees will consider. The markup is expected to occur next month.
