Burnet Interiors has made the interior of the Grob SPn cabin mockup that showgoers can see here on the German airframer’s exhibit (Booth No. 578). In the near future, the Swiss-based VIP cabin specialist will bid for series production.

“We were asked to make the passenger feel as if he or she were in a large, luxury SUV like the Porsche Cayenne or the BMW X5,” Franck Burnet, the company’s CEO, told EBACE Convention News.

Burnet used engineering drawings by Munich-based design office Rücker. These were the outlines. “We had room for deciding on a lot of details, including choosing some suppliers,” Burnet explained. The mockup is realistic, he added, with seats that swivel and slide. However, for cost reasons, Grob elected not to use certifiable materials in the furniture and not to have water ducting.

The next phase could be the assembly of a second cabin mockup. “When you see the real thing, you notice details that you cannot notice on a computer screen,” Burnet emphasized. Hence some improvements on a second mockup.

Burnet now expects to be asked to answer a call for tenders for series production. This is not the company’s usual job. This small enterprise, which is this year celebrating its 40th anniversary, specializes in customized completions.
