Honeywell (Booth No. 406) has completed 330 TFE731-5BR engine conversions for upgrading Dassault Falcon 900As to 900Bs and for upgrading Falcon 20s to the -5BR that had earlier had their CF700s replaced with -5As. The company did not specify the number of airplanes involved in the conversion program, launched in 1991, but did say that “90 percent of the available Falcon 900A fleet” has been modified.

The U.S. group has set its sights on converting the remaining 10 percent of 900As within the next three to five years, and touts the benefits as enhanced performance, improved durability, extended maintenance intervals (MPIs [major periodic inspection] every 2,500 hours versus 2,100 and CZI [core/compressor zone inspection] intervals every 5,000 hours versus 4,200), reduced cost of ownership (through free enrollment in the company’s maintenance service plan, which also enhances airplane resale value to the tune of $150,000 per engine, according to Honeywell).

The Phoenix, Arizona-based company has also announced that its HTF7000, which in January marked its two-year anniversary of powering the super-midsize Bombardier Challenger 300 in customer service, has now logged more than 100,000 hours. Some 150 examples of the engine are flying, and Honeywell claims a “propulsion system dispatch ability rate” of 99.9 percent.
