Saint-Gobain Flight Structures is supplying all the nose radomes for the Embraer Phenom 100 and 300, the company announced at a press conference here on Monday. It has supplied radomes for Embraer aircraft for 30 years.

Adam Aircraft also has chosen Saint-Gobain’s radomes for the Adam A700 jet. A radome has been installed in the test aircraft and will be on production models.  

Saint-Gobain’s Norton radomes use the Norton Armor and Stormview technology to provide the most transparent and durable nose radome, said the company. Norton Armor uses proprietary designs for the composite material, lightning protection and paint systems.

Kellie Harris, aftermarket sales manager, said the high-performance composites offer long in-service life and protection from erosion. The Norton Armor was tested on 200 radomes on regional jets and there was no paint damage. Stormview is transparent to allow radar systems to perform at its best, said Daniel Orwig, sales manager for Saint-Gobain Flight Structures, who noted that aircraft components come from 50 Saint-Gobain companies.

Flight Structures is part of Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics division of the Compagnie de Saint-Gobain of Paris, which has annual sales of more than $44 billion.
