The FAA extended to June 6 next year the compliance deadline for the new second-in-command type rating requirements for international operations. The rule, published August 4, had an original deadline of September 6. The FAA said it is extending the compliance period to allow time for “pilots who need the SIC type rating to prepare and submit the necessary paperwork, and the FAA and its designees need time to process the forms and issue the ratings.” The agency said it has been “put on notice by several foreign civil aviation authorities that they intend to begin enforcing the [ICAOI] type-rating requirement.”
