The FAA will soon replace a 1995 advisory circular that provides operators with guidance and recommendations on how to develop and receive approval for a weight-and-balance control program. Weight-and-balance programs have been required for operators of aircraft with five or more passenger seats and operated under FAR Parts 121, 125 and 135. The new publication, AC 120-27D, will add fractional aircraft operations under Part 91, Subpart K. Also to be included in the new document will be updated estimated weights to use for passengers and baggage. Subpart K is scheduled to go into full effect on February 17.
