Duncan Aviation’s full-service facility in Lincoln, Neb., has won DesignatedAlteration Station (DAS) authorization from the FAA. The authorization allows the facility to approve STCs on behalf of the FAA, significantly reducing the timerequired to complete new STCs. Duncan’s Battle Creek, Mich. facility has had DAS status for several years.

Throughout its history of avionics modifications and upgrades Duncan has depended on the FAA for individual STC approvals. Today the agency has fewer inspectors and greater demands than ever, so the DAS authorization will significantly benefit customers receiving major avionics modifications andupgrades at the facility.

“The DAS authorization comes at a perfect time for us because the Glass Box Project is in full swing,” said John Slieter, Duncan Aviation vice president of completions and modifications sales. “The Glass Box Projects rely heavily on engineering and STCs, and the DAS authorization will help streamline these and others in need of new STCs.”

The DAS authorization is one component of Duncan Aviation’s Glass Box Project, a plan to offer technology modernization that will enable operationof current aircraft well into this century. The plan reduces downtime and risk through thorough planning with customers, the FAA, avionics and airframe OEMs and Duncan’s in-house engineering team.
