The FAA has given its Diamond Award for participating in the Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) trainingprogram to Banyan Air Service of Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport in Florida. Walter Wilson, FAA airworthiness safety program manager, presented the award to Banyan’s president, Don Campion.

In addition to Banyan’s being recognized with a “Certificate of Excellence,” employees in the maintenance and avionics departments received awards based on their level of training. Banyan’s Lou Homsher, maintenance chief inspector and coordinator of the training program, said, “Next year, we will have 100-percent participation, with all our technicians involved in the AMT program.”

Banyan’s aircraft maintenance department offers turbine airframe and engine maintenance, structural repairs and modifications, avionics installations and support, interior refurbishment, exterior painting, parts sales and distribution in a 26,000-sq-ft hangar with an on-site engine facility, a sheet-metal shop, and a non-destructive testing room; a 20,000-sq-ft avionics hangar; and a parts distribution division with an inventory of roughly 20,000 parts.

The heavy maintenance facilityspecializes in King Air, Citation, Hawker and Learjet inspections and modifications. In addition, the location is both an FAA- and JAA-approved repair station and holds maintenance approval from the governments of Venezuela, Argentinaand Brazil.
