Last month Raytheon Aircraft received FAA certification for the Hawker 850XP, essentially a Hawker 800XP with homegrown winglets. Raytheon said the outwardly canted winglets, which are constructed of lightweight composite material, enhance aerodynamic performance, boosting range by up to 100 nm and reducing time-to-climb, as well as allowing higher airspeeds and block speeds. According to Raytheon, the wing-lets also incorporate LED position lights that have a mean time between failure of 5,000 hours.

The Hawker 850XP also introduces new scheduled maintenance interval improvements from 300 hours to 600 hours, with only a detailed walkaround inspection required at 300 hours. Additionally, the 850XP includes improvements found in the Hawker 800XPi, such as an upgrade to the Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite with a standard integrated flight information system; an updated interior; and the new Airshow 21 cabin-management system.

Raytheon said deliveries of the Hawker 850XP began last month and foreign certifications are already being pursued.
