The FAA finalized special conditions for safety standards covering installation of enhanced flight visibility systems (EFVS) in Dassault’s Falcon 900EX and 2000EX. The special conditions are required because the EFVS is an unusual design feature not covered by existing regulations. The system in the Falcons projects a video image on the HUD in the cockpit from a forward-looking infrared camera, and FAR 25.773 (pilot compartment view) does not address safety standards for this system, hence the need for special conditions. The conditions became effective July 7.
