The new terminal at FBO Business Aviation Services, Joe Foss Field, Sioux Falls, S.D., opened July 11. Built at a cost of $4 million, the 42,000-sq-ft building offers a welcome visual break from the high-plains topography found in South Dakota. The exterior’s titanium panels blend seamlessly with spacious sections of sky-reflecting blue-green glass that let natural light enter the building.
Inside the terminal, the Touch-N-Go Café serves breakfast, lunch and snacks and offers catering services. Space is available in the recently completed 28,000-sq-ft heated hangar, and the complex is connected by an underground tunnel, highly useful in the cold Dakota winters. Two conference rooms are available, and the terminal features a plasma-screen-equipped pilots’ lounge and new pilot weather/flight-planning room.
