International authorities have noted repetitive oceanic errors recently, including “gross” navigation errors (25 nm or more), large altitude deviations (300 feet or more) and erosion of longitudinal separation. “Repeated errors present recurring hazards and pose threats to overall flight safety,” NBAA said. To address this topic, an Oceanic Errors Safety Bulletin has been published, which should be used as an operational checklist in conjunction with the guidance found in the NAT MNPS Operations Manual to reduce the chance of gross navigation errors. Download the bulletin from NBAA’s Web site.
