Banyan Air Service at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport hosted a celebration lunch for its avionics and maintenance technicians on May 24 in honor of Aviation Maintenance Technician Day. The date is recognized in 30 states in memory of Charles Taylor, the mechanic who built the engine for the Wright Flyer.

The celebration included an awards ceremony during which 36 FAA AMT awards were presented; several technicians had more than 100 hours of training. In addition, seven avionics technicians received awards from the Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA) for excellence in avionics training.

The company also received FAA recognition for having 100-percent participation in the AMT Awards program, and from the AEA with an Excellence in Training Award.
