An Airbus A321 operated by Pakistani airline Airblue crashed this morning in the Margalla hills, north of Islamabad, killing all 152 people on board. The aircraft, built by Airbus in 2000, went down minutes before its scheduled arrival in Islamabad. 

Flight ED 202 left the southern city of Karachi at 7:45 a.m. for a two-hour scheduled flight to Islamabad and was trying to land during cloudy and rainy weather, according to Pakistani aviation officials. 

Airbus initially delivered the aircraft involved in the accident from the production line in 2000. Leased to Airblue in January 2006, it had had accumulated some 34,000 flight hours in some 13,500 flights. It was powered by IAE V2533 engines.
