<p>Point2Point Airways, the Grand Forks, N.D.-based on-demand “airline style” charter company, ceased operations recently and laid off all its employees. The company was formed in 2002 to respond to what it called a lack of connectivity in the Great Plains region. Though the company operated only piston aircraft when it closed its doors, it had many Diamond D-Jets and Eclipse 500s on order. The company advertised jet service on its Web site, but neither any Eclipses nor D-Jets had been delivered when the company quit flying. Founder and CEO Jim Boehle told city officials in Bismarck, N.D., where Point2Point was to have its second base, that weak revenues and the inability to fly in icing conditions hurt the bottom line. Point2Point was also awarded a $1.25 million DOT Small Community Air Service Development grant last year that allowed it to launch service. The grant, however, required that the company continue to operate through the end of this year.</p>
