The company is also announcing new contracts here at the Paris Air Show. In Russia, CMC has won a contract to provide Moscow-based Transaero Airlines with its GPS-based flight management system (FMS), the CMA-900. The deal covers five Boeing 747s. Deliveries should take place between May 2005 and early 2006.

In Poland, CMC had its HeliHawk HUD selected by PZL Swidnik for its Sokol 3 combat helicopter. It will be first fitted to the demonstrator.

On the other side of the Atlantic, the U.S. Air Force has chosen CMC to provide a “reliability upgrade” on the A-10 ground-attack aircraft’s head-up display (HUD) projection unit. CMC is responsible for replacing all of the existing HUD electronics with modern circuit components. “The contract is for a first batch of aircraft before extending it to the entire fleet,” CMC president and CEO Jean-Pierre Mortreux clarified. He explained that current HUDs have an average life of 500 hours and CMC intends to reach 2,000 hours, although keeping cathode ray tube (CRT) as the base technology.
